My grandson Jacob was just notified today that he is 1 of 18 incoming freshman to receive this award. I am bursting at the seams with pride Jacob! Here is what he will receive!
Penny and Roe Stamps established the Stamps Scholarship at the University of Michigan Office of Financial Aid in 2006. The Stamps Scholarship provides merit scholarships for up to four years to the brightest and most outstanding undergraduates at Michigan. The University matches the scholarship making this one of the university’s most generous financial awards. The annual scholarship package for the incoming 2015 – 2016 freshmen class totals $20,000 for Michigan residents and $40,000 for non-residents.
Each year, 18 freshmen are selected to receive the Stamps Scholarship. Students do not apply for the scholarship. In addition to the scholarship, Stamps Scholars at Michigan are:
- Eligible to receive enhancement funding of up to $5,000 for study abroad, community service, internships or research.
- Members of the Stamps Scholars Society, a University recognized student organization. The purpose of the Society is to connect the Stamps Scholars to one another, the University community and the Stamps family through social events and community service projects.
- Invited to attend the Stamps Scholars National Convention which is held every two years.
Michigan was one of the first universities to enter into a partnership with Penny and Roe Stamps.
