Family Trees with Tangled Branches

I am a proud Step-Mother and Step-Grandmother! It can be difficult when there are multiable Steps involved in the tree! I found a very well written article in the New York Times. One statement I read that hit home is this, “there are no road maps for the dos and don’ts of ex-step etiquette.” But, if you are into statistics, then this was an interesting read! So what should kids call their step-parents? I think that if a birth parent is still alive and active in the relationship with the child, they are Mom or Dad. The step-parent should be called by their first name. In the event Mom or Dad is not in the picture for any reason, then it would be OK to call them Mom or Dad! The couple needs to work out so many problems, that what to call someone isn’t high on the list but it should be! (IMHO)
