IRS

Some people do their own taxes, some choose to pay outrages fees to places like H & R Block. We do our own, rather, I should say Roland does ours. And a fine job he does, he reads up before filling it out, he dots all the i’s and crosses all the t’s. This year was a special challenge because of things that had to be factored in that we have never before had to claim. So the forms were completed, sent in, now it was sit back and wait for the money to appear in our checking account. Sure, it showed up but with a lessor amount and then came the letter saying he had made an error. The dining room table became a sea of papers while he checked and double checked all his figures, trying to find his error. Next, he made a phone call to the IRS, spoke to a helpful lady who rechecked our file. She requested we Fax certain information to her that day. So Roland set about the task, got it ready and I sent it out. Then we waited, we thought we would receive a return phone call from her, but no, nothing! Yesterday, as Roland was updating the checking account, lo & behold, a deposit was made into the account by the IRS, for the exact amount they had taken away before. Did we get interest, no we did not! Had we made an error, they would have charged us a penalty & interest, so the shoe was on the other foot but the IRS is barefoot! We are still waiting for the letter that should be coming from the IRS explaining the deposit, somehow I doubt that letter is on the way! There are a thousand stories in the IRS world, this time they got caught! Don’t let this happen to you, it’s JUST NOT RIGHT!
