Living close to the shuttered mall, I have to say I’m glad the Treasurer’s office appears to be doing something constructive about the mall, it’s about time! The following quote is from the website of NBC 24 news.
“The Lucas County Treasurer’s office is also piling on as they have sent a notice to the owners that they are in danger of losing their property to foreclosure for non-payment of property tax. The treasurer’s office tells NBC 24 that the primary owner of the mall property, Sammy Kahen of Beverly Hill, CA, owes Lucas County about $87,000 in back taxes and hasn’t paid any taxes for almost two years. He has been given until March 11 to resolve the issue or the county will begin drawing up foreclosure action to transfer the vacant mall property to the county.”
