Disaster Bandwagon

Ok, call me insensitive if you will but if the truth hurts oh well. So the poorest place gets hit with a natural disaster and all of a sudden, big name stars want to help! Every station on the air wants to get all the money they can from viewers. We’ve done Farm-Aid, Live-Aid, etc, etc!!! What’s now, Haiti-Aid, via sending millions of dollars to relief organizations via innovative mobile phone giving campaigns. I do feel for all those whose lost their lives while working down there to help out the people! I’d like to help out by sending 3 million condoms, they don’t need more mouths to not feed.

One Response to Disaster Bandwagon

Gee, Judy, why don’t you tell us how you really feel on this. You mean to say that in today’s modern, mobile world that people should take initiative to improve their own lot in life before seeking one continuous handout after another. Don’t you know that we are to react with knee-jerk emotionality devoid of rational logical reasoning? Don’t you realize that we live in a world that empowers and promotes dependency.
On the other hand, we are not supposed to react in the same way when it comes to helping people who have done everything to try to help themselves and to improve their situation but need a bit of an extra helping hand. These are the folks who are left behind and yet in my opinion are the people who deserve all the help we can provide.
