Q: In the paper today is this question “Why does ABC run one minute over on it’s 9-10 p.m. (ET) shows? Are they trying to mess up our viewing?”
A: In a word, yes, but they’d probably prefer to phrase it differently. The logic is that by extending a show a minute or two past the start of the hour, a viewer might be less inclined to change the channel if another program elsewhere already has started. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn’t, but it hasn’t stopped the network from continuing the practice.
ABC, you’ve lost me as a viewer from 9-10 p.m. Please join Judy’s Bandwagon and e-mail ABC and tell them to stop it now.
